Karmaboxx Cost Comparison
Is renting a karmaboxx cheaper than using cardboard?
At karmaboxx we know that moving is expensive and stressful. Our karmaboxx moving supplies are not only stronger, more convenient, and more eco-friendly (read Facts about Cardboard), they are also LESS EXPENSIVE than using traditional cardboard moving supplies. Scroll down to the bottom of this page to see how we compare against "discount" box stores.
If Time is Money Then How Much Does Hassling with Cardboard Cost You?
Most people don’t think about how much it cost them to spend their time procuring, building, and disposing cardboard boxes. They also forget the price of a cardboard box doesn’t include the cost of tape. So if your time really is money, how much does cost you to hassle with cardboard moving supplies? Our Inconvenience Fee Formula expresses in both time and money, how much the inconvenience of dealing with cardboard really costs you.
Inconvenience Fee = (3 min per box)(number of boxes) X (market value for your time)
60min
Inconvenience Fee + Retail cost of cardboard (and tape) = TRUE cost of cardboard
How did you come up with this?
Example: Dan needs 50 boxes and he figures his time is worth $15 per hour (at least!). So 3 minutes per box to go to the store, build and dispose of 50 boxes equals 150 minutes (2.5 hours) of his time. If his time is worth $15 per hour then the 2.5 hours spent hassling with cardboard when he could have been packing a karmaboxx cost him $37.50. Dan paid $2.75 per box and had to buy 10 rolls of tape at $3 per roll for all the boxes which ads up to $175.00 for the materials.
$37.50 (Inconvenience Fee) + $175.00 (materials) = $212.50 is the TRUE cost of cardboard
If Dan had used karmaboxx he wouldn’t have wasted any of his own time because our karmaboxxes are delivered fully assembled and ready to pack, and we pick everything up once he is done! Best of all it only would have $139.99 for 50 karmaboxxes including delivery and pick-up.
If all that seems like way too much math, check out the table below and compare our prices to buying “discounted” cardboard boxes from Uhaul or Home Depot.
